My Plans for Next Year
As many of you know, I graduated from high school this past June. However, something most of you don’t know is that I won’t be heading off to college in the fall. Instead, I’m going to be taking a year to be a part of an exciting program called Mission Year. For quite a while, I had been wanting to do something “different.” In the process of investigating opportunities, I came across the Mission Year program. In March of this year, I visited their Chicago site and was hooked. I turned in my application and was interviewed that day. A few weeks later, I was accepted and made my commitment to spend next year in urban ministry.
About Mission Year
Mission Year is a year long urban ministry program focused on Christian service and discipleship. We take teams of young people, place them in an area of need, and help them to serve people and create community. We are committed to the command of Jesus to “love God and love people,” by placing the needs of our neighbors first and developing committed disciples of Christ with a heart for the poor. I recently sent out a couple newsletters, but I forgot to add the Mission Year envelope to them. This envelope is already addressed to MY and contains a form that gives more information and instructions to help you give. To those people who got a letter without this envelope, ( My relatives and a few church families) I apologize. I will try to contact you by phone, or I can mail you the envelope if you would like one. You can also give online through my blog if you are interested. Sorry!
P.S. No, I do not know what city I will be assigned to yet. Believe me, I am just as anxious as you all – Probably more :-). I will let you know as soon as I get the news.
