About Mission Year
Mission Year is a year long urban ministry program focused on Christian service and discipleship. We take teams of young people, place them in an area of need, and help them to serve people and create community. We are committed to the command of Jesus to “love God and love people,” by placing the needs of our neighbors first and developing committed disciples of Christ with a heart for the poor. So I haven’t blogged since August. Today is April 26th and I just saw the comments from my first blog eight months ago. So if I haven’t replied to you then I apologize. Know that I want to get in touch with you and I WILL! New Orleans is an amazing city and I have enjoyed my experience here immensely. I have met some wonderful people in my church, neighborhood and service site. I currently volunteer at First Pilgrims Baptist Church Christian Academy with kindergarten students. I have seen so much growth in my student’s reading ability and social development. Through my experience with Mission Year, I have seen God do some miraculous things. I am learning what it means to love thy neighbor as thyself.

I’m excited about the oppurtunity to spend the next year of my life doing God’s will. I’ve had the honor of spending a lot of time around mission year participants without having to be in the program myself. I loved what I saw and the desire and the passion that they gave daily towards their ministries. I was moved to the point that I too wanted to join Mission Year and here I am. I am Anthonika Miles and I left behind a great job and a stable career in teaching to do what I believe is my higher calling. “To Minister”. Feel free to drop me a line. I haven’t been assigned a city yet, but I’m happy wherever I go. I’m new to the fundraising part, but do understand that money is needed for the essentials. I’ve put up 1,000 of my own money, to get me started and any additional donations would be appreciated. For now, I’ll talk to you all later and be blessed.
Thanks
Anthonika Miles
