Saturday Afternoons

Saturday Afternoons

On Saturdays we set aside the afternoon just to be with neighbors or co-workers. Usually each of us has someone or multiple people who we’ll want to spend time with. Last week I wasn’t sure where I would spend my afternoon. As we finished up chores and were getting ready to leave the house I thought of Warren and Demarcus. This week I will fly out of my dear PDX airport to go to the ATL airport. Though I know what I’ll be …

Tamales

Fundraising is challenging in Mexican culture. When I told my dad I wanted to talk to our church about supporting me this year, he said, Nosotros no estamos acostumbrados a eso—We are not used to that. I believe that learning to fundraise is important and that God is doing something in my sphere of influence by inviting a community to support someone who will go to a city with the goal of loving God and loving people well. Food is …

Atlanta!

Atlanta!

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6.33 I have marveled at this verse for some time now. It sounds pleasant enough to my human mind, seeking God’s kingdom and then all things being given to me. Even after hearing, reading, and memorizing this verse, I do not fully understand what it means. I certainly want to know what it means and my best guess …
